Winter Makeup Do’s and Don’ts

Winter is my favorite among all four seasons. Since I am from the Middle East, I love family and friends gatherings in the chalet or the desert camp, where we eat grilled marshmallow and gather around the fire. Unfortunately, cold and dry air causes damage and dehydration to the skin. For those who put on makeup, skin problems can cause makeup to fade away. So to avoid this, special cosmetics and skin patches can be used during winter. This is a list of things to do or avoid before the storm blows:

1- The skin you’re in

“It’s very simple, I just clean my skin and peel it and then moisturize it, and if my skin is dry sometimes, I use the natural oil mask with turmeric that is very effective, since it treats the skin and gives you a wonderful glow”, said Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel when talking about her daily skin care routine.

Before putting any makeup on, cleaning, moisturizing and peeling your skin several times a day is a must. By skipping these steps and not sticking to them, you will get an incomplete result and an unattractive and dull look and a cracked makeup. It will look exactly like a lizard peeling its old skin!

For cleaning, I recommend Skyn Iceland Pure Cloud Cleanser for its ability to remove the accumulated makeup on the skin.

Moisturizing: moisturizer must be non greasy and should leave your skin soft. For your face, I recommend Olay Complete Lotion All Day Moisturizer with SPF 15 for Combination / Oily Skin (An SPF 15 cream that protects from sun). For your body I recommend La Roche-Posay Lipikar Body Milk Body Lotion.

Finally, peeling products, such as Bath & Body Works Aromaterapy Sugar Scrub – Eucaplytus Spearmint and La Mer The Body Refiner. In addition, rubbing the dry area with a towel is another option in case you wanted to leave the house quickly or you were in a hurry.

2- Primer Game

In fact you don’t need a primer cream if you have correctly followed the previous step. However, for those who like primers of well-known brands, I recommend Becca Backlight Priming Filter and Kim Kardashian’s favorite benefit cosmetics the porefessional face primer.

3- Light As a Feather

The skin changes depending on the weather. Using a few drops of oil, BB Cream or Foundation Cream will help make the product bright and not dull on your skin. You can use almond oil, vitamin E or any facial oil. Use the beauty blender sponge when you want to apply the product to your face.

4- Lips As Soft As a Baby

Every winter, I feel that my lips tend to crack and become very dry. Putting lipstick on dry lips will make them look cracked and dull with no life (as we see in the picture above). The easiest way to avoid this problem is hydration by drinking plenty of water as well as using lip peeling products to eliminate skin cracking. Try Bliss Fabulips Sugar Lip Scrub or Charlotte Tilbury Lip Love Renewing Scrub that contain sugar, almonds, walnuts, jojoba seeds, butter, cocoa, vitamin A, C and E.

If you prefer homemade ingredients, the lip peeling made of lemon and sugar will be your new addiction:

Ingredients:

Small teaspoon of fresh lemon juice

One and a half teaspoon of coconut oil

2 teaspoons of sugar granules

A small bowl of your choice

How to prepare: In a bowl, mix lemon juice, coconut oil and sugar together. You can add more sugar if necessary to make the peeler denser or thicker. Move the mixture to another bowl and place it in the refrigerator so you can use it for a whole week. Use your finger or a toothbrush and apply the peeling to your lips and rub in a circular motion.
