Get to know the two distinctive fashionistas who share the same first name.

Olivia Wilde and Olivia Munn have many things in common, apart from their name. Both actresses have admirably made the transition from television to film, and have carved a niche for themselves. The ladies also share some similarities, like brunette hair and chiseled features, and are known for their trendsetting fashion choices. Both Olivias have joked about how they are often mistaken for each other not just by fans, but also some industry colleagues! Read on to find out who wins in a battle of style.

Although both Wilde and Munn had exciting childhoods, their backgrounds are as different as can be. Wilde comes from a long tradition of journalism, with several notable personalities in her family, including her parents. Of English descent, she was born in New York City and grew up among critical thinkers and society leaders. On the other hand, Munn had more of an international upbringing, and relocated many times while growing up, though most of her childhood was spent in Tokyo, Japan. She comes from Chinese, English, Irish, and German ancestry. Incidentally, both change their birth names when they entered show business. Widle was born Olivia Cockburn, while Munn was named Lisa at birth.

Wilde wanted to be an actress ever since she was two, so it came as no surprise when she attended the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland. Munn actually majored in journalism with a minor in Japanese and dramatic arts, before interning at NBC. She then moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career in acting. Some of Olivia Wilde’s most notable appearances have been on television series The O.C. and House, and movies like Tron: Legacy, Her, Rush, and The Lazarus Effect. Olivia Munn is known for her roles on The Newsroom and The Daily Show on television, and the movies Iron Man 2, Magic Mike, and Mortdecai.

Olivia Wilde’s sense of style is lauded by many fashion critics. She fuses elegance with an easy-breezy attitude, managing to look good in almost anything she wears. She favors brands like Alexander McQueen, Michael Kors, and Stella McCartney the most; and has also been spotted in creations by Antonio Berardi, Jason Wu, Mary Katrantzou, and The Row. Her looks always seemed tailored impeccably and have an understated yet regal feel to them. She is almost always spotted with glowing skin and makeup that accentuates her beautiful blue eyes.

One more thing that Olivia Munn has in common with Wilde is their mutual love for designer Michael Kors. Munn has sported many of his creations to major events, always staying at the top of her style game. She also favors Lanvin for her evening looks, along with labels like Reem Acra, Vionnet, Thakoon, and Viktor & Rolf. The actress follows a simple beauty mantra, with radiant skin and blushing cheeks topped off with a bright lip on most occasions.

Both actresses are also passionate about the causes in which they believe. Wilde is a board member of Artists for Peace and Justice, which serves the needy in Haiti, and she has also embraced political activism. Munn has campaigned extensively for PETA, and is vocal about animal rights.

It’s safe to say that in spite of having a few things in common, their personalities are distinct and interesting. One look at both the Olivias and it is easy to see why many are confused: both radiate a profound beauty and intelligence that is quite uncommon in the film industry, making them quite a pair!
